Sepsis: the big questions
Sepsis is a major health challenge and an area of global health care priority. As patients with sepsis frequently present to the Emergency Department or deteriorate on hospital wards, often require ICU admission, and may undergo emergency surgery, it is a key area for integrated research in the Department of Critical Care.
The aim of the seminar is to bring together sepsis researchers and thought leaders to foster future collaborative projects, with speakers from neonatology, paediatrics, emergency, adult ICU and infectious diseases.

Prof Karin Thursky was the clinical lead for the Think Sepsis Act Fast Scaling Collaboration in Victoria in 2018. She is an infectious diseases physician and health services researcher, director of the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship, and the Associate Director of Health Services Research and Implementation Science at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Professor Davidson is the Medical Director of the Melbourne Children's Trials Centre, a Senior Staff Anaesthetist and Director of Clinical Research for the Royal Children's Hospital. He is also Head of Anaesthesia Research at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, Executive Member of the Department of Critical Care and Professor in the Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne.
